Our hostA man of Palawa and Portuguese heritage, Jony Berry was the first Aboriginal person to represent Australia at the Mr World competition, using his platform as a model and performer to advocate for causes close to his heart. Jony’s advocacy around the globe was recognised recently with his nomination for Tasmania’s Young Australian of the year award.
Having experienced traumas including homelessness, domestic violence and child sexual assault himself, Jony regularly speaks out about preventing youth suicide within Aboriginal communities. He’s a founding member and youth mentor of the Ballawinnie Tasmanian Aboriginal community and co- founded the B.Excellence Program to provide cultural support and mentoring to high-risk Indigenous youth.
Jony also advocates for Aboriginal flag rights. When representing Australia at the Mr World competition he wanted to wear a large robe bearing the flag but organisers asked him to remove it for copyright reasons. The controversy reinforced his ‘Free the Flag’ message and made international news.
With his large social media following, Jony also uses his local and overseas profile to raise awareness of issues affecting young LGBTQ+ people.

At a young age Dallas Woods developed the uncanny ability to find humour in the most unlikely places. Poverty, suicide, abuses of all kinds are a common theme in his life yet its relentless exposure has provided him with the mettle to cut-through society’s demons so he can apply words to his tsunami of feelings and thoughts.
Dallas writes with a wealth of humility, knowledge and experience; it’s his coping mechanism.
A Noongar man raised in the E.K. [Wyndham – East Kimberley] Dallas is a quintessential underdog who dropped out of school at age 14, however destined to do great things this didn't stop Dallas from finding his feet, travelling Australia teaching young people Hip Hop eventually lead Dallas on the path of recording his own music.
Dallas releases his debut track 9 x out of 10, continues to write and perform with Baker Boy and has plans in the works to release an EP to coincide with his support slot on Baker Boy’s national tour this May and June.
Dallas' debut track 9 times out of 10 raps about the power-trip police have in remote aboriginal communities and how their overt presence is a normal occurrence to him and the residents living there. Dallas Woods raps with clever humour about the stigma of being young, black and breaking the cycle of oppression from within community.

Caution is a Gamilaraay, Dunghutti and Gumbaynggirr man. A writer, poet and hiphop performer.
From his early teens Caution has gained the respect and admiration of all who hear his deftness of language, depth of wisdom and undeniable honesty, technique and linguistic dominance behind the microphone.
Barely into his 20’s, Caution has close to a decade of performance behind him, supporting the likes of Uncle Kutcha Edwards, Motley & Ninah Nicole, Philly, P Smurf & Joe Snow as well as previously being a part of Melbourne’s formidable Nine2Five records.
His own artistic career aside, Caution sees music, hip hop and art, not as a vehicle to material gain but as a tool of empowerment for those who have no voice, whose stories have been disregarded and whose language may be too polite to understand the subtlety of what it means to grow up Indigenous and having to interact with suburban Australia.
A regular contributor, mentor and supporter of young hip hop artists across the community arts scene in Victoria, Caution gave name to New Hope, a program designed to promote youth hiphop and has been a regular contributor to Dig Deep, the Worth A Second Chance campaign and has worked with the Commission for Children and Young People.
It is no surprise then, that a man who has reached this far at such a young age, has his sights set on a future where his talent is not lauded for its own sake and his own gain, but to lead those of us who have been silenced and have forgotten that our stories are better, our history more unique and our bars doper than anything that has come before.

THE BRIARS
MT MARTHA, VIC
2022 theme: RECONNECTION
An all-inclusive family event to promote our strength, passion, and community.
Bring a picnic blanket, sit back and listen to live music, or join in on our cultural workshops and activities.
Our Survival Day is a dry event.
You are welcome to BYO non-alcoholic drinks, but no glass.
To support the vendors on the day, please do not bring your own food.
Bring along your Keep-Cups and reusable drink bottles for the water station.
This is an open-air event on grass, so don't forget to grab a picnic rug or something comfortable to sit on.
This being said, and with limited undercover capacity, remember to pack an umbrella and raincoat — just in case!
Although we love dogs, this is a dog and pet-free venue.
The entrance to the event has a slight incline but isn't undulated.
If you require specific assistance or have accessibility questions, please contact us directly hello@oursonglines.com
