Nairm Marr Djambana ACTIVITIES
Our proud event sponsors, Nairm Marr Djambana was officially launched in November 2016 as a gathering place for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in Frankston. Nairm Marr Djambana now has an active volunteer Committee of Management and runs a range of culturally strengthening programs and activities to meet the needs and aspirations of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Nairm Marr Djambana’s gathering place is bringing their ‘Welcoming Safe Place’ to Our Survival Day, providing kids cultural, recreational, and social activities all in line with the organisations values of promoting and supporting Aboriginal health and wellbeing in the community.
Baluk Arts clay workshops
Baluk Arts is an urban Aboriginal community arts centre making waves in the art world. Based in Mornington, Victoria. Baluk supports artistic, career and audience development for visual artists of the Bayside, Peninsula and greater Melbourne.
This Survival Day, Baluk arts is coming to The Briars! Offering mini clay sculpture workshop providing little kits for young ones (or older) to create bush animals and/or pinch pots or mini coolamons.
LIVING CULTURE guided walks
Living Culture is a not-for-profit organisation based on the Mornington Peninsula, providing cultural, environmental, educational and holistic healing programs to schools, organisations and the general public. Living Culture fosters a unique insight and understanding into the Indigenous heritage of the Boon Wurrung / Bunurong traditional owners of this land, which is the country for which the Our Survival Day.
Join an informative, easy-going, and relaxing guided group walk, and learn about the rich Indigenous history and culture around you on the day!
Headspace SUPPORT TENT
With a focus on early intervention, Headspace work with young people to provide support at a crucial time in their lives – to help get them back on track and strengthen their ability to manage their mental health in the future.
During the Our Survival Day event, Headspace will be providing a support tent. We know that everyone processes this day differently, and we want to ensure that there is a safe, secure place for people to take a time out, or ask for help.
